Exhaustion & Tiredness

Exhaustion and how to combat it…

Tiredness, low energy levels and exhaustion are one of the biggest issues I see in my clinic at the moment. There are many things that can help you combat this debilitating feeling, that can make you feel like you are treading water instead of actually living. But for now I am going to explain some simple foods you can eat that will help naturally raise your energy levels. Chances are if you are tired and exhausted you are nutrient deficient and/or toxic, so the way to heal is bombard your cells with goodness and have a gentle detox at the same time. You can help shift things by alkalising your body.

Alkalising foods are those that help balance the body’s pH levels by making it less acidic and more alkaline. Generally, the body works hard to maintain its pH balance, and eating more alkaline-promoting foods can support that effort and help regain your energy.

Here are some of the best alkalizing foods that you need to include daily in order to shift the toxins out the cells and reboot your body with an array of natural vitamins and minerals- :

1. Leafy Greens

  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Swiss Chard
  • Collard Greens
  • Arugula These are high in minerals like magnesium and calcium, which help make your body more alkaline.

2. Cruciferous Vegetables

  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Brussels Sprouts These veggies contain sulfur compounds that help detoxify and promote an alkaline environment in the body.

3. Citrus Fruits (though acidic in nature, they have an alkalizing effect on the body once digested)

  • Lemons
  • Limes
  • Grapefruits Despite their tartness, they actually have an alkalizing effect in the body once metabolized.

4. Cucumbers

  • Cucumbers are highly hydrating and have a mild alkaline effect, helping to flush out toxins and balance your body’s pH.

5. Avocados

  • Rich in healthy fats and low in sugar, avocados help promote an alkaline state in the body and support healthy digestion.

6. Tomatoes

  • Another acidic food that becomes alkaline once metabolized, tomatoes are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, such as lycopene.

7. Sweet Potatoes

  • These are rich in antioxidants and fiber, and they help maintain an alkaline environment in the body.

8. Beets

  • Beets are not only alkalizing but also help with detoxification due to their high content of betalains and fiber.

9. Almonds

  • Almonds are one of the most alkalizing nuts, containing healthy fats, proteins, and minerals that support the body’s pH balance.

10. Herbs and Spices

  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Turmeric
  • Cilantro These herbs and spices have anti-inflammatory and alkalizing properties.

11. Seaweed

  • Seaweed varieties like nori, dulse, and spirulina are high in minerals and have an alkalizing effect on the body.

12. Green Tea

  • Packed with antioxidants, green tea helps with detoxification and supports an alkaline environment in the body.

13. Watermelon

  • This hydrating fruit is slightly alkaline and can help flush out acidity from the body.
